Your computer stopped the installer
Usually a work laptop, and nothing is wrong with your computer.
Why it happens
Company laptops often run security software that holds back programs it has not seen before. It may say the download contains a virus, or that setup could not run. SlideShortcuts is digitally signed by its maker, 1183 Ventures LLC, and Microsoft's own virus scan finds nothing in it. The block comes from your laptop's security settings, so it cannot be clicked past, and we would never ask you to switch your company's protection off.
What you can use today
- The new Windows installer. Since version 17.0 it is an MSI package, and the add-in it installs is compiled, with no macros, so a laptop that stopped the old
Windows_Install.exeor turns macros off may now allow it. Download SlideShortcuts.msi and double-click it. It installs for your Windows user only, needs no administrator rights and runs nothing from your temp folder. Enter the license key from your welcome email when setup asks, or leave it empty and paste it when PowerPoint asks. - The SlideShortcuts panel, with no installer. In PowerPoint, click Home, then Add-ins, search for SlideShortcuts and click Add. It comes from Microsoft's own add-in store, which most company laptops allow. You get the buttons for Quick Actions, Symbols, Lines, Textbox Table, Icons and Export to Excel. The keyboard shortcuts still need the installer.
- A personal computer. On your own Windows PC or Mac, the installer runs normally from slideshortcuts.com/setup, and one subscription covers both.
If your company approves software on request
Send your IT team slideshortcuts.com/it: it has the package, the publisher's certificate, the permissions and what each part sends, for Windows, Mac and Google Slides.
Some companies have a request form for new software. What they usually ask for:
- Publisher: 1183 Ventures LLC (signed with a Sectigo code-signing certificate)
- Download:
https://slideshortcuts.com/downloads/SlideShortcuts.msi, a per-user MSI package that Intune or any tool that installs MSI files can deploy. The license key is optional: without it, PowerPoint asks each person for their own. - What it does: Adds the SlideShortcuts add-in, a compiled COM add-in with no macros, to PowerPoint for your Windows user and activates your license. It needs no administrator rights.
Coming next
We are working on a version of the keyboard shortcuts that needs no installer at all. Write to support@slideshortcuts.com and Davon will tell you when it is ready, or help with anything else in the meantime.
